This was a wonderful trip I made with my family this summer. The museum of felt making is well worth a trip if you're near the Belgian border. It's in the same town as a factory that also produces industrial felt, one of the last of its kind. Enjoy

This was created using gottland, wensleydale wool and jacobs fleece. Next time I'm going to use more naturally dyed fleece.. I don't know what it is.. my colour pallette is changing..

Ramster Textiles Exhibition

From the 8th - 21st April 2011, the Ramster Garden and Teahouse, in Surrey, will be holding the 11th Embroidery and Textile Art Exhibition. The exhibition will display contemporary embroidery and textile art from leading british textile artists. Over 250 pieces of work will be for sale!

If you have children, there is an Easter Treasure Hunt Sunday on the 17th April. Take your little ones around the beautiful surroundings whilst having lots of fun! Go on a hunt around the garden, following the clues, to find delicious prizes!

I finally finished this piece. It has been a joy to make from silk and merino fibres. The diameter is 90 cm and it will be lit with 3 strong bulbs - so the effect should be like stained glass. It's very festive !

I'm back home from the textiles event in Canada. Please see my flickr stream for more details.
I don't really know where to start.. wonderful people,inspiring artists, incredible land,magical moon...
This has been one of the most special times of my life. I felt like I flew .. and the good news is that this is just the start!. Now of course I have so many ideas, I just want to get on with being an artist .. but with teaching lined up, my arty side will have to go with the flow for the time being.

When Thirteen Moons Entwine

I'm taking part in a wonderful project this year called 'When Thirteen Moons Entwine'. This is a textiles event in Quebec - Canada up in the mountains. 26 textiles artists from all over the world are taking part. I am collaborating with Krystyna Sadej , a master weaver and textile artist.Please see her website, it's beautiful.

Thoma and Gabby Ewen at The Moon Rain Centre are organising the event, which takes place from August 15th - October 10th 2010.It's a real honour to be invited.We are working on an outdoor textile art installation which reflects the thirteen moons of the lunar calendar.

It's been such fun coming up with ideas and although slightly daunting , I feel like I am being given a pair of creative wings again after having my 2 gorgeous children!.

At the moment Krystyna and I have agreed to work on two pieces: I will felt onto one of her weavings and Krystyna will weave into one of my felt pieces. I'm going to create a large piece for her with holes that she can felt into. See my flickr page for more sketches.

We are also planning to create a healing space in the forest amongst other things, as this is part of an outdoor trail. I'm looking forward to it, fingers crossed for the funding!.

I was lucky enough to go to a Master Class hosted by Ratsuko Sakata last week. Queen of Nuno felt. We learnt how to make scarves , flowers and latticework. I got soo much out of these two days. In particular how to really make my edges sharp. Check out Ratsukos website.
